Wine glasses

Wine enthusiast will decant their wine, use aerators, ensure that it is stored at just the right temperature and served at the correct temperature. Do you believe that serving the wine in a specific glass (ie, reds typically served in a larger, rounder glass and whites in a more slender deeper glass) brings out additional flavors or is it just a way to sell glassware?!
