Sweet red wines?

Many red wine purest I know (like myself ;-) tend to put the kabash on any white wine save the occasional glass of Chardonnay. Sweet wines (Moscato, etc...) seem to be enjoying a surge in popularlity. Does anyone have any recommendations for great red wines that have sweet overtones that might satisfy a table with mixed tastes? I had a red wine from Italy called Lambrusco that was close to fitting the bill.
