Nothing brings for me a more renewed sense of life than the changing colors of spring! The changing of colors means it’s the time of blooming flowers, budding grapevines, and the anticipation of wonderful wines from an upcoming harvest. It’s also a time of anticipation of outdoor entertaining with great food and wine with family and friends. We all notice the changing of colors and the beauty of spring, but have you ever noticed the beauty of the color of wine in a wine glass? Just as I am in awe of the colors of spring, I am in awe of how beautiful the color of wine can be.

Wine is like many other pleasurable experiences, in that you can enjoy it even if you don’t know much about it, but a little effort at learning more can increase your enjoyment many times over. It’s like enjoying watching a baseball game more if you know something about the rules and strategies, or enjoying golf more if you actually take a few lessons. And learning more about wine is especially fun, because a lot of the learning process involves actually drinking wine.

As one of the premiere wine makers in California's Napa Valley, Viader wines (pronounced vee-uh-dare) has a history all it's own. Founded in 1986 by Delia Viader, VIADER is located 1200 feet above the Napa Valley floor just northeast of St. Helena on the steep, rocky slopes of Howell Mountain. The first wine Delia started with was a blend of Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon in 1989.
